Photo of Gregory McLaneThe officers and civilian staff assigned to the Homicide come from many diverse policing backgrounds. They are extremely dedicated and knowledgeable. Every homicide investigation is done with dignity, diligence and professionalism. I ask for nothing less. My investigators would settle for nothing less.

Toronto is one of the safest big cities in the world, with crime showing significant, consistent declines. I believe this will continue, due to the large number of citizens who care and are willing to do the right thing when called upon.

We must all ensure that the partnerships between police and all the communities across Toronto continue and grow. The strongest tool for success in homicide investigations is witnesses. We have seen, in recent years, a very encouraging increase in those willing to come forward to help us, and to help their communities. I will make a strong effort to take proactive steps to develop, still further, our relationships with communities throughout our city.

Everyone who has lost someone to a homicide is entitled to have the accused brought before our courts. My squad will take every step possible to make this a reality.

I want to thank all our partners, throughout the city, who have worked with the Homicide Squad in solving murder investigations. Your assistance is very much appreciated. We will continue to work together.

I would urge you to browse our website. If you, or someone you know, has any information concerning any homicide investigation, please call our Homicide Squad by phone at 416-808-7400, or email us at homicide@torontopolice.on.ca. This website is a continuous work in progress, so please check regularly for updated information.
