Details of Investigation
In responce to a 9-1-1 call, on Monday September 2, 2002, at 12:33 a.m., police and paramedics attended a fight call at the Esso Service Station, 261 Dixon Road, Toronto. They located Mahad Tahlil in the parking lot, suffering from stab wounds. He was transported to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

Despite medical intervention, he succumbed to his injuries.

Investigation revealed that Mahad Tahlil was travelling with a group of acquaintances to a club on Carlingview Avenue. En route, they stopped at the Esso station to buy soft drinks. While in the parking lot, the deceased and the suspect became involved in an altercation. During the course of the fight, the suspect stabbed the victim several times in the neck and torso with a pair of scissors. The suspect fled the scene on foot, northbound on Islington Avenue.

The assailant was identified as Suleiman Ahmad, 18 years-of-age at the time of this offence. An arrest warrant was issued for Suleiman Ahmad on a charge of 2nd-degree murder.
