The victim was standing near a bus stop with his friends. The accused approached the victim. An arguement ensured and the victim was stabbed in the chest by the accused.

Details of Investigation
On Saturday, May 11th, 1991, Thozamile Benson Mbele was standing at a bus shelter at the intersection of Keele Street and Dundas Street West, along with two friends.

At 1:45 p.m., Morro Jagana, 39 years-of-age at the time of this crime, arrived at the location. An argument started between Mbele and Jagana, in relation to a domestic situation which involving Mbele’s girlfriend.

The accused drew a knife, and after a physical altercation, stabbed Mbele in the chest. He then dragged him across Keele, to a parking lot located on the west side. There Mbele collapsed.

A number of citizens saw what was taking place and made 9-1-1 calls. Officers responded and arrested Jagana at the scene. Thozamile Mbele died from his injuries at Toronto Western Hospital. Jagana was charged with 2nd-degree murder. Morro Jagana eventually made bail, and subsequently absconded. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest on a charge of 2nd-degree murder.

Mr. Jagana lived in a rooming house on Keele Street. He was a construction labourer.
