Deputy Chief Keith Forde and Toronto Police Services Board chair Alok Mukherjee led a strong police contingent in support of the third annual Caribana gala at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex.
The proceeds from the July 24 event, which honoured several long-time volunteers, will go towards providing scholarships for Haitian students pursuing post-secondary education in Canada.
S/Insp Nick Memme and Const. Rodcliff Chung, of the Community Mobilization Unit, also attended the fundraiser, which was held a few days ahead of the Service’s kick-off event at police headquarters on July 28.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “A Cultural Fusion.”
The headquarters’ kick-off event will feature the Nachdi Jawani Warriors dancers and steelpan music.
Toronto’s own National Basketball Association star Jamaal Magloire will also be on hand to present a signed certificate of appreciation to Rick Gosling.
