Man charged in Parking Enforcement Officer Assault investigation,
Midland Avenue and Verdun Avenue

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in an Assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at 11:30 a.m., a Parking Enforcement Officer was working in 41 Division

- the PEO was enforcing the fire route bylaw on Midland Avenue and Verdun Avenue

- a man approached the officer and physically tried to stop him from issuing the ticket

- the man elbowed the officer in the chest and grabbed his left arm

- the man then jumped in his car and was last seen southbound on Midland Avenue

Adnan Diriye, 25, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Assault Peace Officer

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Finch Avenue East on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, 2 p.m., room 407.
