On Friday, April 7, 2017, at 11 a.m., at Sherway Gardens, officers from 22 Division will be launching a crime prevention initiative called "No Valuables Onboard."
The campaign is a collaborative partnership between law enforcement and property owners to reduce both thefts from vehicles and thefts of vehicles.
Officers, as well as their partners from TTC and GO Transit Special Constables Unit, will be engaging with shoppers at Sherway Gardens, reminding them of easy-to-implement tips and providing them with yellow placards that can be placed in their vehicles. The placards have practical tips and ideas to secure the contents from being targeted by thieves.
The key messages of this campaign are:
- lock doors and roll up windows
- remove all valuables (including any affixed devices such as GPS)
- conceal and secure any valuables you may need to leave in the vehicle
Members of the public are invited to attend along with members of the media and retailers.
