Man, 48, arrested in Attempt Murder investigation,
Ellesmere Road and Markham Road area

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest in an Attempt Murder investigation.

On Thursday, June 29, 2017, at approximately 4:45 p.m., police responded to a call for a Stabbing in the Ellesmere Road and Markham Road area.

It is alleged that:

- a 48-year-old woman was standing out front of a building

- she was approached by a man wielding a large knife

- she was stabbed numerous times

- the man then fled the scene in a van

The woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Thursday, June 29, 2017, at approximately 5 p.m., a man, 48, surrendered to police. He was arrested and charged with:

1) Attempt Murder
2) Aggravated Assault
3) Assault with a Weapon
4) Weapons Dangerous
5) Fail to Comply with Recognizance

He appeared in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Friday, June 30, 2017, 10 a.m., room 412.
