The Toronto Police Service is kicking off the 19th annual United Way Toronto and York Region (UWTYR) fundraising campaign on Monday, September 11, 2017, at 11 a.m., in the courtyard at headquarters, 40 College Street. (In the event of rain, it will be held in the main lobby).

Chief Mark Saunders will be joined by Toronto Police Services Board Vice-Chair Councillor Chin Lee, President of the Senior Officers Organization Superintendent Scott Gilbert, President of the Toronto Police Association Mike McCormack, UWTYR President & CEO Daniele Zanotti and representatives from the St. Alban's Boys & Girls Club in kicking off the campaign.

Members of the Toronto Police Service have raised millions for UWTYR, the largest non-governmental supporter of social services in the region, who create the opportunities people need to improve their lives and build a better future. Last year, alone, Service members raised over $400,000.

To celebrate the kickoff, the 19th annual stationary bike race will be held, where Service members will compete in teams to pedal the longest distance as well as raise the most funds for UWTYR.

Toronto Police Service commemorative watches will also be for sale as part of fundraising efforts.
