Man charged in Attempt Murder of two children,
Jane Street and Steeles Avenue West

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of charges laid in an Attempt Murder investigation.
On Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 3 p.m., officers responded to a call for an assault in the Jane Street and Steeles Avenue West area.
It is alleged that:
- a man was in a home with two children, both under 10
- he struck the children on the head with a hammer
- he then choked them both
Both children were rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. They were both treated and are expected to make a full recovery.
A man, 53, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) two counts of Attempt Murder
2) two counts of Assault with a Weapon
3) two counts of Overcome Resistance by Choke or Suffocation
4) Possession of a Weapon
5) two counts of Uttering Threats
He will appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at 10 a.m., in room 306.
To protect the identity of the victims, his name is not being released.
