Man, 27, faces seven charges in firearm investigation,
Bathurst Street and King Street West area,
Firearm seized

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest in a firearm investigation.

On Monday, January 1, 2018, at approximately 3 a.m., officers had responded to a call for an Assault in the Bathurst Street and King Street West area.

It is alleged that:

- officers observed a man leaving a nightclub

- he dropped a firearm onto the ground

- he picked it up quickly and started to run away

- he was caught after a brief foot pursuit

- a brief struggle ensued

- he attempted to conceal the firearm on his body during the struggle

- - a loaded Kel-Tec 9mm Luger pistol was seized

Bashir Osman, 27, of Kingston, has been charged with:

1) Careless Storage of a Firearm
2) Weapons Dangerous
3) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
4) Unlicensed Person Possess Prohibited Firearm
5) Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
6) Possession of a Prohibited Weapon Knowing Possession is Unauthorized
7) Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Monday, January 1, 2018, 10 a.m., room 101.
