Man, 20, arrested in investigation into five shootings,
Faces 48 charges, including seven charges of Attempt Murder,
Firearm seized

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of the arrest of a man in connection with an investigation into five shootings. The investigation involved officers from 31 Division and 22 Division working closely together.

It is alleged that:

- on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at approximately 4 p.m., in the Rathburn Road and The West Mall area, a 19-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl were standing inside the hallway of a building

- a man with a gun approached from the exterior of the building and began to shoot multiple rounds at the man and girl

- the man with the gun then fled the area

- the man who was shot received non-life-threatening injuries and the girl was not injured


It is further alleged that:

- on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at approximately 3:10 p.m., in the Finch Avenue West and Islington Avenue area, a 47-year-old man was standing outside

- a man with a gun approached him and shot him

- the man with the gun then fled the area


It is further alleged that:

- on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at approximately 4:30 p.m., in the Finch Avenue West and Islington Avenue area, a 20-year-old man was walking in the area, when a man exited a vehicle

- the man from the vehicle had a gun and began to shoot at the man

- the man with the gun then fled the area


It is further alleged that:

- on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at approximately 3:30 p.m., in the Finch Avenue West and Islington Avenue area, a 35-year-old man and a four-year-old girl were in a parked vehicle

- a man with a gun exited a vehicle and approached the vehicle with the man and girl

- the man began to shoot at the man and girl and fled the area

- the man and girl were not injured


It is further alleged that:

- on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at approximately 4:25 p.m., near Rathburn Road and Renforth Drive, a 19-year-old man was walking

- a man in a vehicle approached the man and rolled down the window while stopping beside the man

- the man in the vehicle produced a gun and began to shoot at the man and fled the area.


On Monday, January 22, 2018, Adam Abdi, 20, of Brampton, was arrested.

It is further alleged that, coincidental to the arrest, officers seized a firearm, a photograph of which is attached.

He is charged with:

1) seven counts of Attempt Murder
2) five counts of Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm without Holding a Licence and Registration Certificate
3) five counts of Possess Firearm other than Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a Licence
4) five counts of Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm
5) five counts of Use/Handle/Store Firearm Carelessly
6) five counts of Discharge Firearm with Intent to Wound, Endanger Life or Prevent Arrest
7) five counts of Use Firearm to Commit Indictable Offence
8) five counts of Have Face Masked/Disguised
9) five counts of Breach of Probation
10) Possess Firearm While Prohibited

He was scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Monday, January 22, 2018, 2 p.m.
