"Bold Bandit" arrested in investigation into eight robberies,
Man, 25, faces 23 charges

Toronto Police Service Hold Up would like to make the public aware of the arrest of a man in an investigation into eight retail robberies in the past week.

It is alleged that:

-on Friday, January 19, 2018, at 7:30 p.m., a man walked into a store in the Spadina Avenue and Adelaide Street West area

- the man removed a toy gun from the wall and put it into his pocket

- the man pointed the gun at the cashier and obtained cash

- the man then fled the area


It is further alleged that:

- on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 6:30 a.m., a man displayed a knife inside a store in the Bloor Street West and Runnymede Road area

- the man demanded money from the cashier

- she was able to flee out the back of the store

- the man left empty-handed


It is further alleged that:

-on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at 1:20 p.m., a man entered a restaurant in the Queen Street West and Jameson Avenue area

- the man passed a note to the cashier demanding cash and indicated he was armed

- the man received a quantity of cash and fled


It is further alleged that:

- on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at 8 p.m., a man attended a store in the St. Clair Avenue West and Oakwood Avenue area

- the man pointed a gun at the cashier and demanded cash

- the man racked the gun

- the cashier realized the gun was a toy gun

- the man did not obtain any money and fled


It is further alleged that:

- on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at 8:10 p.m., a man walked to a coffee shop in the St. Clair Avenue West and Christie Street area

- the man passed a note to the cashier indicating he was armed and demanded cash

- the man received a quantity of cash and fled


It is further alleged that:

- on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at 8:30 p.m., a man attended an ice cream store in the Bloor Street West and Christie Street area

- the man passed the cashier a note indicating he was armed and had a black T-shirt wrapped around his hand

- the cashier grabbed the phone and called police

- the man then fled, leaving his note behind


It is further alleged that:

- on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at 8:40 p.m., a man entered a variety store near Dovercourt Road and Bloor Street West

- the man indicated he was armed and had a black T-shirt wrapped around his hand

- the man demanded cash and was then chased out of the store by the owner


It is further alleged that:

- on Monday, January 22, 2018, at 6:30 p.m., a man entered a grocery store in the Queen Street West and Dufferin Street area

- the man approached a cashier at the service counter

- the man indicated he was armed with a gun and demanded money

- the man obtained a small quantity of cash and fled


On Wednesday, January 24, 2018, Taylor Cleaver Weatherill, 25, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) seven counts of Robbery
2) Robbery with offensive weapon
3) two counts of Use imitation Firearm
4) six counts of Wear disguise
5) six counts of Possession of a weapon
6) Fail to Comply Probation

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Thursday, January 25, 2018, 10 a.m., room 101
