Man, 35, arrested in investigation into 12 robberies,
Faces 17 charges

Toronto Police Service Hold Up would like to make the public aware of a man arrested for 12 robberies in the past two weeks.

It is alleged that:

- between Thursday, January 11, 2018, and Tuesday, January 23, 2018, a man was involved in a total of 12 robberies at Wine Rack locations and financial institutions in the downtown core

- during the robberies, the man threatened the victims with bodily harm

- in several incidents he also threatened them with a syringe indicating he had AIDS

On Wednesday, January 24, 2018, Mark Desjardins, 35, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) eight counts of Robbery
2) four counts of Robbery While Armed with An Offensive Weapon
3) three counts of Disguise with Intent

He was scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Thursday, January 25, 2018, 10 a.m., room 501.
