Three men arrested and charged in shooting investigation,
Lawrence Avenue West and Bathurst Street area

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of three arrests in a shooting investigation.

On Saturday, January 27, 2018, 32 Division officers were called to the Lawrence Avenue West and Bathurst Street area for the sound of gunshots

Officers were able to confirm a firearm had been discharged and identify a suspect.

It is alleged that:

- a man, 31, a victim, was located in a hospital in Toronto

On Saturday, January 27, 2018, officers attended an apartment in the Lawrence Avenue West and Bathurst Street area and arrested Jaffar Mohammed, 24; Gurmessa Abdullhi, 24; and Adonai Kahsay, 22, all of Toronto.

It is further alleged that:

- during the arrests a large quantity of marijuana was thrown from the balcony of that apartment

Officers of the 32/33 Division Street Crime Unit then executed a Criminal Code and Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant at that apartment.

It is further alleged that:

- officers located more marijuana, a quantity of cocaine, a large quantity of cash, and drug paraphernalia consistent with the packaging, quality testing and sale of marijuana and cocaine

Jaffar Mohammed, 24, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) Discharge Firearm with Intent to Wound or Endanger Life
2) Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
3) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
4) Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
5) two counts of Possession of Proceeds of Crime
6) Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
7) Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

He appeared in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Monday, January 29, 2018, 10 a.m., room 304.


Gurmessa Abdullhi, 24, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Sunday, January 28, 2018, 10 a.m., room 103.


Adonai Kahsay, 22, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Sunday, January 28, 2018, 10 a.m., room 103.
