Public Safety Alert,
Loredana (Laura) Araya, 47, facing 10 charges in
ongoing theft investigation

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an ongoing theft investigation.

It is alleged that:

- between August 2015 and December 2015, a woman entered the homes of patients who received nursing care

- once inside the home, she would ask to see the patient’s medication

- she would then leave the home, taking the medication with her

It is further alleged that:

- in October 2017, a woman entered the homes of patients who received nursing care

- once inside the home, she would ask to see the patient’s medication

- she would then leave the home, taking the medication with her

- she entered homes in the Etobicoke and Mississauga areas on five occasions and removed medication

On Monday, February 5, 2018, Loredana (Laura) Araya, 47, of Brampton, surrendered to police.

She was arrested and charged with:

1) five counts of Break-and-Enter to Commit Theft
2) five counts of Unlawfully in a Dwelling

She appeared in court at College Park on Monday, February 5, 2018, room 501.

Loredana (Laura) Araya is employed as a nurse and provides home care to patients.
