Public Safety Alert,
Robberies with a Weapon in North Scarborough

The Toronto Police Service wants to make the public aware of a series of Robberies with a Weapon, using a white van, in the North Scarborough area.

It is reported that:

- on Monday, February 5, 2018, at 1:30 a.m., a woman, 20, and man, 23, were driving a vehicle in the Copperwood Square and Port Royal Trail area

- they were rear-ended by a white van

- the man and woman exited their vehicle to inspect the damage

- two men exited the white van

- both men displayed a firearm and made demands for property

- the man and woman were pushed up against their vehicle and their pockets were searched

- one of the men entered the vehicle and obtained more property, including cell phones, a wallet and identification

The men are described as black, 18-25, with an old-model black Glock firearm, driving a white van.


It is further reported that:

- on Monday, February 5, 2018, between 1:15 a.m. and 2:15 a.m., a 20-year-old woman was walking in the Van Horne Avenue and Don Mills Road area

- when she was crossing the street, a white van pulled in front of her, nearly striking her

- when she was waiting at the bus stop, a man exited the white van and displayed a firearm

- he made demands for her property and a struggle ensued

- a witness assisted and the suspect fled in the white van without any of her property

The man was described as black, 19, grey hoodie, black pants, black firearm, driving a white van.


It is further reported that:

- on Monday, February 5, 2018, at 8:40 p.m., a 27-year-old man was driving a vehicle in the Burnt Bark Drive and Sanwood Boulevard area

- he was rear-ended by a white van

- he exited his vehicle

- two men exited the white van and pretended to examine the damage

- the men pushed the man to the ground and they displayed a knife

- the men made demands for the man's property

- a third man stood by

- the three men left in the white van and obtained a wallet, cell phone, backpack, car key fob, house keys

The two men were described as black, 18-25, wearing dark clothing.

The third man was described as black, approximately 5'3", wearing red clothing.

All three men were seen in a white van.

Police ask the public to always remain vigilant. If anyone feels they are being followed, or are suspicious of a person’s activity, call 9-1-1 immediately.
