On Tuesday, May 1, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the auditorium of Police Headquarters, the Toronto Police Service – led by Chief Mark Saunders – will welcome its partners from Toronto Beyond the Blue for a community yoga session.

In an effort to promote positive mental health and a sense of community, Toronto Beyond the Blue has teamed up with Healing Heroes for this first-of-its-kind event.

May 7-15, 2018, is also recognized as Mental Health Week and this event is one of many initiatives the Service will look to participate in to support its officers and civilians.

Members of the Service and the community have been invited to participate in this trauma yoga session. Trauma yoga is effective at releasing deeply-held, unresolved trauma thereby reducing anxiety and improving mental wellbeing.

The session will begin at 11 a.m. with brief remarks by:

Mark Saunders, Chief of Police
Mike McCormack, President, Toronto Police Association
Dilnaz Garda, President, Toronto Beyond the Blue
