Two people arrested in firearm investigation,
Martin Grove Road and Eglinton Avenue West area,
Loaded semi-automatic handgun recovered

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of arrests in a firearm investigation.

It is alleged that:

- on Monday, May 1, 2018, members of the Area Field Command Investigative Support Unit executed a search warrant in the Martin Grove Road and Eglinton Avenue West area

- the search warrant yielded a loaded Glock 19 semi-automatic handgun

Abdirahman Omar, 24, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm
2) Possess Prohibited Firearm Without License and Registration Certificate
3) Possess Prohibited Firearm Without License and Registration Certificate
4) Careless Storage of a Firearm
5) Possess Firearm While Prohibited

He appeared in court at College Park on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, 10 a.m., room 507.


Sumaya Jama, 25, of Toronto, was arrested. She is charged with:

1) Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm
2) Possess Prohibited Firearm Without License and Registration Certificate
3) Possess Prohibited Firearm Without License and Registration Certificate
4) Careless Storage of a Firearm

She appeared in court at College Park on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, 10 a.m., room 507.
