Man, 24, arrested in Attempt Murder Investigation,
Weston Road and Jane Street area,
Faces eight charges

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in an Attempt Murder investigation.

On Saturday, May 12, 2018, at approximately 2:20 a.m.., a man attended a bar in the Weston Road and Jane Street area.

It is alleged that:

- at some point during the night, the man and a 23-year-old man got into a verbal altercation outside the bar

- the confrontation escalated and the man produced a silver handgun

- multiple shots were fired at the victim during this altercation

- the man fled the area

The victim sustained a single gunshot wound and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Wednesday May 16, 2018, Nashon Simmons, 24, of Oshawa, was arrested. He was charged with:

1) Attempt Murder
2) Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm
3) Possess Firearm other than Restricted or Prohibited Firearm without Holding a Licence
4) Possess Firearm other than Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly not Holding a Licence
5) Use/Handle/Store Firearm Carelessly
6) Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm
7) Fail to Comply Condition of Judicial Release
8) Possess Firearm while Prohibited

He was scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, May 17, 2018, 10 a.m.
