Public Safety - Major Events
From Friday, July 13, 2018, to Sunday, July 15, 2018, the Honda Indy will take place in Toronto. This event will feature numerous Indy Car Races, as well as several other on-site attractions.
Road closures for this event will begin on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at 12 p.m.:
- southbound Strachan Avenue will be closed from Fleet Street to Lake Shore Boulevard West
- at 8 p.m., Lake Shore Boulevard West will be closed from Strachan Avenue to British Columbia Drive. These roads will remain closed all weekend, and are scheduled to be reopened on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at 11 p.m.
Due to the extensive road closures, motorists can expect significant delays in the area and are strongly encouraged to plan alternate routes. Anyone attending the Honda Indy should take public transit. Both the TTC and GO Transit will provide increased service to Exhibition Place.
To ensure the safety of spectators and competitors, all persons are reminded that operating Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs/"drones") in and around Exhibition Place during Honda Indy race weekend is strictly prohibited. Persons found operating a UAV in the area will be in direct violation of restricted airspace and will be subject to investigation and/or prosecution.
