On Thursday, June 14, 2018, at 1 p.m., the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run will take place at Toronto Police Service Headquarters.
The Run, started in 1987 by TPS Constable Lorne White, involves a 3-km run and a 2.5-km walk for Special Olympics Ontario, an organization that raises awareness and provides opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
The event will start with brief remarks from Lorne White and cheque presentations by the Toronto Police Services Board, the Toronto Police Association, the Toronto Police Senior Officers Organization, the Toronto Police Amateur Athletic Association and the Toronto Police Credit Union.
This year, the Service is honoured to receive donations from sponsors such as BMO, RBC Capital Markets, CIBC, Formans Manufacturing Inc., and Mortgage Company of Canada.
Collectively, the donations will mean an additional $40,000 for Special Olympics Ontario on top of funds raised by Toronto Police Service members.
You can attend the event tomorrow and show support or you can follow #GuardiansoftheFlame and @TorontoPolice on Twitter.
