On Wednesday, July 4, 2018, members of the Toronto Police Service Sex Crimes Child Exploitation Section executed a Criminal Code search warrant in the Kennedy Road and Eglinton Avenue East area.
It is alleged that:
- a man lured a 15-year-old girl through social media applications
- the man sexually assaulted the girl
On Wednesday, July 4, 2018, Suhail Shergill, 31, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:
1) Luring a Child (under 16)
2) two counts of Sexual Interference
3) two counts of Sexual Assault
4) Access Child Pornography
5) Possess Child Pornography
6) Invitation to Sexual Touching
He appeared in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Thursday, July 5, 2018, 10 a.m.
He is known to use the username "Shawn" online.
Police are concerned there may be other victims.
This investigation is continuing. Police urge anyone who may have been subjected to inappropriate contact by Suhail Shergill to call investigators so the incident(s) can be investigated and support can be provided.
