Man, 26, charged with firearm and drug offences,
Alleged intended victim of Scarborough playground shooting,
McCowan Road and Alton Towers Circle area,
Faces 16 charges

The Toronto Police Service Integrated Gun & Gang Task Force entered into an investigation based on information that a man was in illegal possession of a firearm.

As a result of this investigation, on the morning of Friday August 31, 2018, a search warrant was executed at a residence in the Eglinton Avenue East and McCowan Road area.

It is alleged that:

- during the execution of the search warrant, the man was located

It is further alleged that the following was seized:

- loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun

- various rounds of ammunition

- quantities of crack cocaine and heroin

Clinton McDonald, 26, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Unauthorized Possession of a firearm
2) Possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon knowing its possession is prohibited
3) Careless storage of firearm
4) Careless storage of ammunition
5) Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
6) Possession for the purpose of weapons trafficking
7) three counts of Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
8) Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition knowing its possession is prohibited
9) Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
10) two counts of Possession of a Schedule I substance
11) two counts of Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
12) Fail to comply recognizance

He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, September 1, 2018, 9 a.m., room 101.

It is further alleged that:

- Clinton McDonald, 26, was the intended target of the playground shooting in the McCowan Road and Alton Towers Circle area on Thursday, June 14, 2018, where two young girls were struck by gunfire

Sheldon Eriya, 21, and Tarrick Rhoden, 23, have been previously charged in relation to this incident.

An arrest warrant remains outstanding for T’Quan Robertson, 23, of Toronto, in relation to the playground shooting.
