Man, 20, arrested,
Faces eight charges in shooting investigation,

On Monday, September 3, 2018, at 3:51 p.m., the Toronto Police Service responded to a shooting call in the Markham Road and Painted Post Drive area.

It is alleged that:

- a man entered a restaurant and placed a take-out order

- while inside the restaurant, the man accidentally shot himself with a gun he had hidden in his pants

- the man left in a vehicle and discarded the gun

- he continued driving and was involved in a Fail-to-Remain collision in the Brimorton Drive and Scarborough Golf Club Road area

- the man abandoned the vehicle and ran into a nearby house where he was arrested

It is further alleged that:

- investigators from 43 Division Major Crime Unit, with the assistance of TPS Dog Services, conducted an exhaustive search for the discarded firearm

- an area of interest was identified in the area of the Highland Creek west ravine

- on Tuesday September 4, 2018, at 2:30 p.m., officers located a loaded A&B Arms Aero Survival sawed-off rifle

- the gun was found hidden in the wooded area of the ravine

On Monday September 3, 2018 at 4:13 p.m., Abdihakim Saeed, 20, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
2) Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Not Authorized
3) Possession of a Loaded Firearm
4) Possession of Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
5) Possess Firearm Knowing its Serial Number has been defaced
6) Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle
7) Fail to Remain at Scene of Accident
8) Careless use of Firearm

He was scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, 10 a.m., room 411
