The Toronto Police Service is pleased to be hosting a graduation ceremony for 27 new police recruits on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at noon, at the Toronto Police College, 70 Birmingham Street.

In attendance for this special occasion will be Mayor John Tory, Toronto Police Services Board Chair Andrew Pringle, Toronto Police Services Board Vice Chair Jim Hart, Chief Mark Saunders, Deputy Chief Barbara McLean, Deputy Chief Shawna Coxon, Deputy Chief Peter Yuen, Deputy Chief Jim Ramer, and Chief Administrative Officer Tony Veneziano.

The graduating class is representative of Toronto’s diverse cultural community and brings a superior level of varied knowledge and abilities to the Service, including language skills, previous military or policing experience and post-secondary education.

The class is comprised of 18.5% women and 22% visible minority members. A total of 96% successfully completed post-secondary education and 41% have previous military or policing experience. The majority of the class speak another language other than English, including Arabic, French, Portuguese, Urdu, Hindi, Macedonian, Punjabi, Turkish, Japanese, Dari and Farsi.
