Three men arrested in Robbery investigation,
Face nine charges

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest made in a Robbery investigation. The series of robberies occurred in the area of Yonge Street between Sheppard Avenue West and Finch Avenue West.

Between Thursday, October 25, 2018, and Tuesday, October 30, 2018, police responded to seven incidents involving victims from the Willowdale area.

It is alleged that:

-the victims were followed by men in a dark sedan while they walked along various streets in the Willowdale area

- the passengers from the dark sedan would then walk up from behind the victims and rob them of property such as debit/credit cards, identification, cellular phones and other valuable items

Following a lengthy investigation, police identified the men and vehicle. On Tuesday, October 30, 2018, the three men were arrested.

Franklin Ita-Effiong, 19, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1. Robbery with a Firearm
2. five counts of Robbery
3. Robbery with Intent
4. two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000

Robel Zaza, 20, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1. Robbery with a Firearm
2. five counts of Robbery
3. Robbery with Intent
4. two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000

Andrew Tesfatsion, 20, of Mississauga, has been charged with:

1. Robbery with a Firearm
2. five counts of Robbery
3. Robbery with Intent
4. two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000

They are scheduled to appear in court at the 1000 Finch Avenue West on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at 10 a.m., in room 306.
