Toronto Police Service members are joining the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) Lock It Or Lose It Campaign, a proactive, province-wide crime prevention program that encourages motorists and passengers to take a few simple precautions to protect their vehicles and valuables from theft.

The media are invited to the kick-off event at Yorkdale Shopping Centre on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at 10 a.m. The event will take place directly inside the Famous Players/Indigo mall entrance.

Speakers will include:

- Chief Kimberley Greenwood, OACP President
- Deputy Chief Ken Weatherill, OACP Community Safety & Crime Prevention Committee
- Acting Staff Superintendent Mark Barkley, Toronto Police Service

Police leaders and officers from the Toronto Police Service and other police services will be joined by campaign supporters from Accident Support Services International, arrive alive/DRIVE SOBER, Canpar Express, Circle K Stores, and the Insurance Bureau of Canada to kick-off the OACP’s annual province-wide crime prevention campaign targeting auto thefts and valuables in unsecured vehicles.

Police will display two vehicles – a secured one that detracts would-be thieves and another vehicle that would be an attractive target – as part of the launch. Police Officers will also be going out into the Yorkdale Shopping Centre parking lot to check on vehicles following the media event.

Media inquiries can be made to Joe Couto, OACP Director of Government Relations & Communications, at 416-926-0424 ext. 22 or 416-919-9798 or media@oacp.ca
