Arrests made in Human Trafficking Investigation,
Two men and a woman facing 21 charges,

On Saturday, December 1, 2018, members of the Sex Crimes Human Trafficking Enforcement Team started an investigation into a Human Trafficking incident.

It is alleged that:

- a woman met a man, 23, on the Tinder dating website
- he attempted to procure her into the sex trade but she refused, however he proceeded to harass the woman

It is further alleged that:

- a different woman met a man, 19, on the Tinder dating website
- he procured her into the sex trade
- he transported her to a hotel in the Mississauga area
- he took photos of her in various stages of undress, and posted advertisements for sexual services on the classified ad website Leolist
- he made all of the arrangements for dates of sexual services
- he forced her to turn over all of her earnings in the sex trade to him
- he assaulted her and threatened her family

It is further alleged that:

- the same 19-year-old man introduced her to a man, 23, and woman, 23
- the woman, 23, took photos of her in various stages of undress, and posted advertisements for sexual services on the classfied ad website Leolist
- she made all of the arrangements for dates of sexual services
- she forced her to turn over all of her earnings in the sex trade
- she complied and gave the money to the 19-year-old man or 23-year-old man
- both men and woman used deception, intimidation and fear to exercise control over the actions and movements of the woman

On Saturday, December 1, 2018, two people were arrested:

Joshua Hamblett, 23, of Brampton, was charged with:

1. Trafficking in Persons by Recruiting
2. Procuring/Recruit Person to Provide Sexual Services for Consideration
3. Advertising Another Person’s Sexual Services
4. Financial/Material Benefit from Trafficking in Persons Over 18
5. Harassment by Repeated Communication with Person
6. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
7. Possession of a Schedule I Substance

Sashauna Wilkins, 23, of Brampton, was charged with:

1. Trafficking in Persons by Recruiting
2. Advertising Another Person’s Sexual Services
3. Financial/Material Benefit from Trafficking in Persons Over 18
4. Possession of Schedule I Substance
5. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

They appeared in court at Old City Hall on Sunday, December 2, 2018, at 10 a.m.

A warrant was obtained for Keagan Prophete, 19, of Brampton.

On Tuesday, December 18, 2018, investigators from the Human Trafficking Enforcement Team executed a Criminal Code Search Warrant in Brampton, Ontario.

Keagan Prophete, 19, was arrested and charged with:

1. Trafficking in Persons by Recruiting
2. Procuring/Recruit Person to Provide Sexual Services for Consideration
3. Trafficking in Persons by Recruiting
4. Procuring/Exercising Control
5. Financial/Material Benefit Trafficking Person Over 18
6. Material Benefit from Sexual Services
7. Advertising Another Person’s Sexual Services
8. Assault
9. Uttering Threats

He appeared in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at 10 a.m.

Photographs of both men and the woman have been released.

Police are concerned there may be more victims.

Police would like to encourage all affected individuals to come forward and report Human Trafficking occurrences to police. We want to make sure that everyone has access to support services and an exit strategy, regardless of their decision to proceed criminally.

Victims can be men, women or children; can be Canadian citizens; and can be moved across local, provincial or national borders. They can be coerced through violence or the threat of violence against family and friends.
