Man arrested for Armed Robberies,
Shemore Ian Getfield, 20,

The Toronto Police Service Hold Up would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in relation to four retail robberies, along with several street robberies and car-jacking robberies in 43 division, the east end of Toronto.

It is alleged that:

- between Thursday, April 18, 2019 and Thursday, April 25, 2019 four retail stores were robbed by a man

- a man entered the premises wearing a wig with long curly hair, sunglasses and a large winter jacket

- the man confronted the store employees pointing a replica handgun and demanded money

- during one of the robberies the man obtained electronic devices

It is further alleged:

- on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at 1:30 p.m., a man was delivering a pizza to a home located in the area of Lawrence Avenue East and Manse Road

- a man sitting on the porch pointed a handgun at the delivery man and demanded his car

It is further alleged :

- on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at 2 p.m., a man was working on his vehicle in his driveway in the area of Meadowvale Road and Sheppard Avenue East

- a man walked by the driveway and returned and demanded the homeowner’s vehicle

- the man pulled out a handgun, racked the slide and pointed it at the homeowner who then gave him the car keys

It is further alleged:

- on Friday, May 3, 2019, at 2:30 p.m., a man was delivering a pizza to an apartment located in the area of Lawrence Avenue East and Morningside Road

- a man who had been waiting in the hallway pointed a handgun at the delivery person and demanded his wallet and his car keys

It is further alleged:

- on Saturday, May 4, 2019, a woman and a four year-old boy exited their vehicle which was parked in front of a library located in the area of Lawrence Avenue East and Manse Road

- a man confronted the woman and demanded her car keys

- the man threatened to shoot the woman and her son and he pulled out a handgun from the pocket of his sweater

- the woman managed to flee into the library with her son

On Saturday, May 4, 2019, Shemore Ian Getfield, 20, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1. four counts of Robbery while armed with a firearm
2. four counts of Disguise with Intent
3. four counts of Fail to Comply Probation
4. four counts of Fail to Comply Disposition

He was additionally charged by 43 division with another 62 charges pertaining to the other robberies, gas thefts and fail to complies.

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Sunday, May 5, 2019, at 10 a.m., in court room 101.
