Thursday, June 6, 2019
On Saturday, June 8, 2019, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., at Burrows Hall Community Centre, 1081 Progress Avenue, 42 Division will be hosting its 22nd Annual Police Community Picnic.
This event is fun for the whole family and is a wonderful opportunity for the community and the police to build a relationship within a friendly environment. Community events such as this help to break down barriers and misconceptions that youth may have about officers and promote a positive image of the police. Young people learn that the police are not only there to serve, protect and enforce the law but are their friends as well.
The picnic is hosted by the 42 Division Community Police Liaison Committee. They organize community walks, crime-prevention seminars, and financially support local community organizations.
The media is invited to attend.
Activities include: children's games, inflatable play structures, face-painting, crafts, a video game truck, fire, Paramedic and community displays. There is also entertainment that includes music and various dance performances. All activities are free and there is a barbeque that offers a variety of food at a very low cost.
