Four men and two boys arrested in Firearm investigation

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of arrests made in a firearm investigation.

On Monday, June 17, 2019, at approximately 9 p.m., officers responded to a radio call for a Person with a Gun in the Queen Street West and Ossington Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- a 23-year-old woman had placed an ad on Kijiji to sell her computer

- she made arrangements to meet a male who contacted her

- two males arrived, took the laptop and fled

- as they fled a black handgun fell from one of the males' waistband

- they got into a silver Honda Civic with licence plates reported stolen

- the next day a male attempted to sell the woman’s laptop online

- officers arranged a meeting with the suspect and then arrested him

- he had the stolen laptop, a large hunting knife, a credit card-style knife and a mini Glock air soft pistol

- a number of other boys and men were arrested and the stolen vehicle located

A number of items were recovered and seized as part of the investigation:

- a quantity of brand new cell phones in original packaging
- ski masks
- a quantity of marihuana

A 17-year-old boy, of Toronto, is charged with:

1. Possess Property Obtained by Crime for trafficking under $5,000
2. three counts of Weapons Dangerous to Public Peace
3. three counts of Carry Concealed Weapon
4. Possess Prohibited Weapon
5. Unlawfully Possess Schedule III Substance
6. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000


A 17-year-old boy, of Toronto, is charged with:

1. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

They appeared in court on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at 9 a.m., at 311 Jarvis Street, in room 1.

They cannot be named due to provisions described in the Youth Criminals Justice Act.


Tajean Alexander-Smith, 18, of Toronto, is charged with:

1. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000


Matchushan Kamalakumaran, 18, of Toronto, is charged with:

1. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000


Mohsen Yahya, 18, of Toronto, is charged with:

1. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000


Laxsen Laxmikanthan, 18, of Toronto, is charged with:

1. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
2. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Marihuana
2. Adult Possession of Marihuana in a Public Place
3. Possession of Proceeds of Crime

They all will appear at Old City Hall on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at 10 a.m., in room 111.

This is an ongoing investigation.
