The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in a shooting investigation.
On Thursday, August 15, 2019, at approximately 4:00 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the Morningside Avenue and Milner Avenue area.
It was reported that:
- a victim was shot as a result of a random drive-by shooting
It is alleged that:
- upon further investigation, officers determined that the victim had suffered a gunshot wound, due to an accidental firearm discharge.
On Tuesday, August 20, 2019, members of the 42 Division Major Crime Unit, along with Forensic Identification officers executed a Criminal Code search warrant on a vehicle related to this shooting investigation. Upon searching the vehicle, officers located a semi-automatic firearm, along with a spent casing associated to this shooting.
A 16-year-old-boy, of Toronto, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, faces the following charges:
1) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
2) Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
3) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
4) Careless Storage of Firearm
5) Public Mischief
6) Obstruct Peace Officer
He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Toronto East Courts, 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, room 408 at 9:30 a.m.
