The media are being invited to a graduation ceremony for 133 new police constables on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at noon, at the Fort York Armoury, located at 660 Fleet St.
Chief Mark Saunders will be joined by Minister of Solicitor General Sylvia Jones, Deputy Solicitor General Mario Di Tommaso, Mayor John Tory and Toronto Police Services Board Member Ken Jeffers in welcoming the newest officers to the Toronto Police Service.
The graduating class is representative of Toronto’s diverse cultural community and brings a superior level of varied knowledge and abilities to the Service, including language skills, previous military or policing experience and post-secondary education.
The class is comprised of 20 women and 36% visible minority members. A total of 71% of the class successfully completed post-secondary education and 51% speak another language other than English.
