Toronto Police Service releases a Mental Health and Addictions Strategy

The media is invited to attend the release of the Toronto Police Service's Mental Health and Addictions Strategy at the Toronto Police Service Headquarters Media Gallery at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2019.

The Strategy outlines the commitment of the Toronto Police Service to preserving the health and safety of both members of the community and members of the Service who may experience mental health and/or addictions issues. The Strategy has received input from community experts and stakeholders over the past several years. It is being released during Mental Illness Awareness Week (October 6 - 12, 2019).

Chief Mark Saunders, Toronto Police Services Board Acting Chair Uppala Chandrasekera and Empowerment Council's Executive Director Jennifer Chambers will provide remarks. TPS Inspector Chris Boddy will also be available to media.

The Strategy will be published on the TPS website at the start of the news conference.

The news conference will be available on T.O.C. and live-streamed on YouTube.
