Arrests made in Firearm Investigation,
Two young persons,
Weston Road and Finch Avenue West area

The Toronto Police Service is notifying the public of arrests made regarding a recent Discharge Firearm Investigation.

On Friday, November 8, 2019, at approximately 12:30 a.m., officers responded to a shooting call in the Weston Road and Finch Avenue West area.

A 14 year old girl sustained serious but non-life threatening gunshot wounds inside a residence. She was transported to hospital, where she was treated and later released.

The Toronto Police Service, West Command Gun Violence Suppression Unit commenced an investigation into the matter.

As a result of the investigation, two young persons were arrested and charged in relation to this event. These youths cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The youths are facing the following charges:

1) Discharge Firearm Being Reckless as to the Life or Safety of Another
Person
2) Careless Storage of a Firearm
3) Careless Use of a Firearm
4) Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm
5) Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm without holding a License and
Registration Certificate
6) Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm knowingly not holding a
License and Registration Certificate
7) Possession of Firearm while Prohibited
8) Fail to Comply with Recognizance

The two youths are scheduled to appear at Old City Hall Court, 60 Queen Street west on Saturday, November 9th 2019 at 10:00 a.m.

110. (1) Subject to this section, no person shall publish the name of a young person, or any other information related to a young person, if it would identify the young person as a young person dealt with under this Act.***
