Chief’s update on robbery/shooting investigation
Alness Street and Magnetic Drive

Chief Mark Saunders addressed the media with the below update today (Thursday, November 14, 2019):

Toronto Police Service was called at 10:24 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2019, for a shooting in the Alness Street and Magnetic Drive area.

It is reported that:

- Two suspects entered a business
- They made demands and then fired shots at the employees of the moving
company before fleeing on foot
- A female suffered gunshot wounds and was taken to hospital
- A male was also shot and made his way to hospital in the York region
He was then transported to a Toronto area hospital by emergency run
- A third person was taken to hospital for shock

Officers including the Emergency Task Force and K9 Unit cleared the area and surrounding businesses, and rendered the scene safe.

The investigation is in its early stages and officers will continue to canvass the area to recover any potential evidence.
