Robbery investigation,
Two men arrested, one suspect wanted

The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of arrests made in relation to a series of violent robberies which occurred in the northwest area of the city.

It is alleged that:

- between Wednesday, November 20, 2019, and Saturday, November 23, 2019, one retail store and five taxi cabs were the victims of robberies in Toronto

- in each instance, three male suspects entered the store and taxi cabs while attempting to disguise their identity

- one of the suspects would be armed with either a knife or a handgun which they pointed towards the victim(s)

- the suspects took a quantity of cash and other items before fleeing on foot

On Saturday, November 23, 2019, at approximately 10 p.m., officers saw two of the suspects driving in the area of Jane Street and Driftwood Avenue. The officers stopped the vehicle and took the pair into custody. Property from the robberies was located along with an “air soft” pistol.

Joshua Ojo-Ukana, 19, of Toronto, was arrested. He was charged with:

1. Two counts of Robbery with a firearm
2. Three counts of Robbery with Offensive Weapon
3. Robbery with Violence
4. Five counts of Weapons Dangerous
6. Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Sunday, November 24, 2019, at 10 a.m., room 101.

A young person, also of Toronto, was arrested. He was charged with:

1. Two counts of Robbery with a firearm
2. Three counts of Robbery with Offensive Weapon
3. Robbery with Violence
4. Disguise with Intent
5. Five counts of Weapons Dangerous
6. Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Sunday, November 24, 2019, at 10 a.m., room 101.

110. (1) Subject to this section, no person shall publish the name of a young person, or any other information related to a young person, if it would identify the young person as a young person dealt with under this Act.***

The third male suspect is still outstanding. Hold Up Squad officers are continuing the investigation in an attempt to identify and locate him.
