Three Boys Arrested for series of Bank and Retail Robberies in the GTA,

The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of three arrests following a series of violent bank and retail robberies that occurred in the Greater Toronto Area. This includes Toronto, Halton Region and York Region areas.

It is alleged that:

- between Tuesday, January 14, 2020, and Monday, January 27, 2020, four bank robberies and three retail store robberies were committed in the GTA

- in each incident, boys entered the premises while attempting to disguise their identities

- in each incident, at least one was armed with a knife or a handgun

- they approached the employee's and made demands for money while threatening them with the weapons

- a quantity of currency and cigars were taken

- they then fled in stolen cars

On Monday, January 27, 2020, officers were investigating a robbery at a bank located in the Weston Road and Eglinton Avenue West.

It is further alleged:


- officers arrived at the bank and arrested one boy

- a loaded handgun was recovered

- officers then located two boys inside a stolen car near the bank, and they were arrested.

On Monday, January 27, 2020, a 16-year-old boy, of Toronto was arrested. He is charged with:

1. three counts of Robbery while Armed with a Firearm
2. two counts of Disguise with Intent
3. Possession Property Obtained by Crime

He appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 10 a.m.


On Monday, January 27, 2020, a 15-year-old boy, of St. Catherines was arrested. He is charged with:

1. six counts of Robbery while Armed with a Firearm
2. four of Robbery
3. ten counts of Disguise with Intent
4. six counts of Possession of a Weapon
5. six counts of Careless use of a Firearm
6. six counts of Possession of a Firearm Knowing it’s Possession is Unauthorized
7. six counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
8. six counts of Pointing a Firearm
9. six counts of Use Firearm in the Commission of an Indictable Offence
10.Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
11.Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition

He appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 10 a.m.


On Monday, January 27, 2020, a 15-year-old boy, of Ajax was arrested. He is charged with:

1. Robbery while Armed with a Firearm
2. Possession Property Obtained by Crime

He appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 10 a.m.

Hold Up Squad members are working with other GTA Police Services investigating possible further incidents.
