Three People Arrested,
Firearm Recovered,
Bellamy Road North and Lawrence Avenue East Area

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of three arrests where a loaded firearm was allegedly recovered.

On Saturday, March 14, 2020, 43 Division Neighbourhood Community Officers were working in their designated neighbourhood as part of a program.

It is alleged that:

- officers noticed a suspicious vehicle in the Bellamy Road North and Lawrence Avenue area
- they conducted a vehicle stop
- several people were inside the vehicle at the time of the stop
- the vehicle was searched and a loaded firearm was recovered

Kajanthan Kanagarajah, 34, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Impaired Operation
2) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
3) Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
4) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
5) Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm
6) Possess Prohibited/Restricted Weapon or Prohibited Device Knowing No Authority

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at 10 a.m, room 407.

Toni Baxter, 19, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
2) Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
3) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
4) Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm
5) Possess Prohibited/Restricted Weapon or Prohibited Device Knowing No Authority
6) Fail to Comply

She is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at 10 a.m., room 407.

Airah Garingo, 21, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with:

1) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
2) Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
3) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
4) Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm
5) Possess Prohibited/Restricted Weapon or Prohibited Device Knowing No Authority

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at 10 a.m, room 407.


Neighbourhood Community Officers work in partnership with local residents and community-based organizations to address crime, disorder and community safety issues. They are embedded in one neighbourhood for at least four years to actively co-develop solutions and mobilize Toronto Police resources in order to reduce crime, fear of crime and anti-social behaviour.
