The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a disturbance investigation.

On Saturday, June 6, 2020, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Toronto Police Service was made aware of a man causing a disturbance in Nathan Philips Square.

It is alleged that:

- a man attended Nathan Philips Square during an anti-racism protest dressed in “blackface”

- police on scene were advised and promptly engaged with the man

- the man was arrested for Breach of the Peace

After further investigation, Deivis Shtembari, 28, of Thornhill, has been charged with:

1) Cause A Disturbance

He is scheduled to appear at Old City Hall, on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 11 a.m., room 111.
