The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of an arrest as part of a bank robbery investigation.
On Monday, June 15, 2020, a bank robbery took place in the Ellesmere Road and Victoria Park Avenue area.
It is alleged that:
- a man entered a bank while attempting to conceal his identity by wearing a baseball hat, sunglasses and a medical mask covering his face
- the man approached a teller and began to shout as he handed the teller a note
- the note was a demand for cash and indicated he was armed with a gun
- the man was given a quantity of cash before fleeing the area
Uniformed officers from 41 Division, the Emergency Task Force and Police Dog Services arrived on scene quickly and located a man.
On Monday, June 15, 2020, Dae Ung Ium, 40, of Toronto, was arrested. He has been charged with:

He appeared in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at 10 a.m., in room 412.
