TPS Announces Passing of Toronto Police Mount

The Toronto Police Service is announcing the sudden passing of Service Mount "Russell".
He was found in his Mounted Unit stall on Friday, July 24, 2020, at about 2 p.m. A cause of death has not yet been determined.
“Russell” was a 10-year-old Clydesdale, measuring 17 hands high. He joined the Toronto Police Service in October 2016.
He was named in honour of Sergeant Ryan Russell, who was killed in the line of duty nine years ago. The 11-year police officer succumbed to his injuries on January 12, 2011, after being struck by a man driving a stolen snowplow.
