The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of three men and a woman arrested in relation to a home invasion robbery.

Investigators are also seeking the public's assistance in identifying a fourth man in relation to a related shooting investigation.

On Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at approximately 1:45 a.m. police attended a sound of gunshots call in the Renforth Drive and Elmbrook Crescent area.

It is reported that:

- two men armed with firearms forcibly entered a home

- one of the armed men fled on foot and was chased by the victim. The suspect then fired three shots at the victim

- the victim was not injured by the shots

- the second suspect then fled the home and stole a Porsche Cayenne from the driveway

- a woman, who was visiting the home at the time of the invasion, left on foot. Investigators believe she facilitated the robbery

- valuables were also taken during the incident

- the Porsche Cayenne has since been recovered

Investigators from the Hold-Up Squad were able to identify the three men and the woman.

It is further alleged that:

- an unidentified armed man later arrived and fired shots at the suspects as they were outside the home

On Tuesday, May 19, 2020, Chaves Patten, 24, of Brampton, was arrested and charged with:

1. Robbery with a Firearm
2.Disguise with Intent
3. Discharge Firearm with Intent to Endanger Life
4. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
5. Careless Use of a Firearm
6. Possession of a Firearm Knowing it’s Possession is Unauthorized
7. Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
8. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
9. Possession of Proceeds of Crime
10. Assault Causing Bodily Harm
11. seven counts of Fail to Comply with Release Order

He appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at 10 a.m., in room 204.


On Wednesday, May 20, 2020, Ohaje Taitt, 24, of Brampton, was arrested and charged with:

1. Robbery with a Firearm
2. Disguise with Intent
3. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
4. Careless Use of a Firearm
5. Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
6. Possession of a Firearm Knowing it’s Possession is Unauthorized
7. Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
8. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
9. Assault Causing Bodily Harm
10. five counts of Fail to Comply with Release Order

He appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, May 21, 2020, at 10 a.m., in room 204.


On Wednesday, May 20, 2020, Rushsean James, 30, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1. Robbery with a Firearm
2. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
3. Careless Use of a Firearm
4. Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
5. Possession of a Firearm Knowing it’s Possession is Unauthorized
6. Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
7. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle

He appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, May 21, 2020, at 10 a.m., room 204.


On Thursday, October 15, 2020, Emma Hinch, 22, of Elmira, was arrested and charged with:

1. Robbery with a Firearm

She appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at 10 a.m., in room 206.


Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man who allegedly shot at the home invasion suspects.

He is described as 25, approximately 5'9", black, light skinned, medium build, with short black hair and unshaven.

Images of the three men and the woman who were arrested have been released.
