Public Safety Alert,
SUV Theft Investigations

Broadcast time: 09:00
Date: Monday, November 2, 2020
Unit: 53 Division
Phone: 416-808-5300

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of vehicle thefts in 53 Division.

Since January 1, 2020, investigators from 53 Division's Major Crime Unit have noticed an increase in the thefts of SUVs, specifically, Land Rovers from the driveways of homes in the Lawrence Avenue West and Bathurst Street area.

Investigators believe the suspects may have access to electronic devices which can compromise an SUV's security system.

Officers urge the public to be vigilant with locking their vehicles, even in in their driveways. Using a locked garage or anti theft device is recommended.

Residents are also reminded to store vehicle keys in a secure location away from the front door.

If anyone sees suspicious people or activity near their vehicles, they should call police to report it.
