Seven boys arrested in series of retail robberies,
East York area

The Toronto Police Service's Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of seven arrests following a series of retail robberies.

On Monday, November 9, 2020, two retail robberies took place in the Cosburn Avenue and Donlands Avenue

It is alleged that:

- in both robberies boys entered the premise attempting to disguise their identities

- among the group one boy was armed with a knife

- the boys approached the employees and made demands for money while threatening them with the weapon

- the boys obtained a quantity of cash, cigarettes and cigars and then fled the area in a vehicle

- police located the stolen vehicle while the boys were inside

- the boys began to flee and crashed the vehicle into a house and then fled on foot

A 16-year-old boy was arrested at the scene. He is charged with:

1. three counts of Robbery with an Offensive Weapon
2. three counts of Disguise with Intent
3. three counts of Possession of a Weapon
4. three counts of Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
5. two counts of Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
6. four counts of Possession Property Obtained by Crime (under)
7. two counts of Possession Property Obtained by Crime (over)

He appeared in court at 311 Jarvis Street on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 2 p.m.


It is further alleged that:

- on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, a retail robbery was committed in the Cosburn Avenue and Greenwood Avenue

- a group of boys entered the premise, while attempting to disguise their identities

- one of the boys was armed with an expandable baton

- the boys approached the employees and made demands for money while threatening them with the weapon

- the boys assaulted two store employees

- the boys took a quantity of cash, cigarettes and cigars and then fled in a vehicle

The boys were identified with the assistance of the public and officers from multiple divisions as well as Hold Up Squad. All the boys involved were located and arrested.

A 16-year-old boy, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1. three counts of Robbery with an Offensive Weapon
2. three counts of Disguise with Intent
3. Assault with Weapon
4. three counts of Possession of Weapon
5. three counts of Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
6. two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (under)
7. Possession Property Obtained by Crime (over)
8. Fail to Comply Probation Order
9. Fail to Comply with Disposition

He is scheduled to appear in court at 311 Jarvis Street on Friday, November 13, 2020, at 10 a.m.


A 16-year-old boy, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1. three counts of Robbery with an Offensive Weapon
2. three counts of Disguise with Intent
3. Assault with Weapon
4. three counts of Possession of Weapon
5. Carry Concealed Weapon
6. three counts of Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
7. three counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (under)
8. Mischief

He is scheduled to appear in court at 311 Jarvis Street on Friday, November 13, 2020, at 10 a.m.

6. Carry Concealed Weapon
7. Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
8. two counts of Fail to Comply Disposition

He is scheduled to appear in court at 311 Jarvis Street on Friday, November 13, 2020, at 10 a.m.


A 14-year-old boy, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1. Robbery with an Offensive Weapon
2. Disguise with Intent
3. Assault with Weapon
4. Possession of Weapon
5. Carry Concealed Weapon
6. Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
7. Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

He is scheduled to appear in court at 311 Jarvis Street on Friday, November 13, 2020, at 10 a.m.


A 15-year-old boy, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1. Robbery with an Offensive Weapon

Hold Up Squad members are continuing to investigate possible further incidents that these boys may have been involved in.
