The Toronto Police Service's Hold Up Squad has arrested a man in relation to two retail robberies that occurred in Toronto.

On Monday, March 15, 2021 and Wednesday, March 17, 2021, two retail store robberies were committed in the Kipling Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard West area.

It is alleged that:

- a man entered the store with a mask on and his hood over his head in an attempt to conceal his identity

- on March 15 the man approached the checkout counter and made a demand for cash while pretending to purchase some merchandise

- after a short interaction with the employees, the man fled the scene empty-handed


It is further alleged that:

- a man entered the store with a mask on and his hood over his head in an attempt to conceal his identity

- on March 17 the man selected several items from the shelves and an employee approached him and asked him to pay for the items

- the man pulled out a knife and threatened the employee

- the man then grabbed a bottle of windshield fluid off the shelf and broke the store window with it

- the man fled the scene on a bicycle

Officers from 22 Division quickly responded and were able to locate a man.

It is also further alleged that:

- at the time of his arrest, the man was found in possession of a knife and items from the robbery


On Wednesday, March 17, 20121, Patrick Evangeliste-Tavernier, 33, of Toronto, was arrested. He was charged with:

1. Robbery
2. Robbery With a Weapon
3. two counts of Disguise With Intent
4. Weapons Dangerous
5. Carry Concealed Weapon
6. Mischief Under
7. two counts of Fail To Comply Probation

He appeared in court virtually at Toronto West Court, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Thursday, March 18, 2021, 10 a.m., room 206.
