The Toronto Police Service’s Hold Up Squad has arrested a man in relation to a gunpoint carjacking investigation.

On Thursday, March 24, 2021, police responded to a robbery in the Don Mills Road and Esterbrooke Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- the victim was selling his car online and arranged to meet a potential buyer

- the man met with three male suspects and showed them the car

- one of the males pulled out a handgun and demanded the victim give up his car

- the victim got out of the car and fled to safety

- the males got into the car and drove away from the scene


It is further alleged that:

- later the same day, a uniformed Durham Regional Police Officer observed the stolen car being driven in an erratic manner

- the officer attempted to stop the car but the driver refused to stop

- a short pursuit was initiated and police were eventually able to stop the car with one male occupant inside

- a black airsoft pistol was located inside the car


On Wednesday, March 24, 2021, Abdullah Alfakhri, 19, of Oshawa, was arrested.

He was charged with:

1. two counts of Robbery with a Firearm
2. Disguise With Intent
3. Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
4. Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer
5. two counts of Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over

He appeared in court virtually at Toronto North Court, 1000 Finch Avenue West, Thursday, March 25, 2021, at 10 a.m., room 306.


Members of the Hold Up Squad are trying to identify the two others involved in the robbery. They are described as:

1. Man, approximately 18, unknown race, 5’3”, petite build,
2. Man, approximately 20, unknown race, 5’6”, thin build, long black hair

These males should be considered potentially armed and dangerous.
