Four men arrested for home invasion robbery,
Wilson Avenue and Tippett Road area

The Toronto Police Service’s Hold Up Squad has arrested four men in relation to a home invasion robbery investigation.

On Wednesday, December 30, 2020, police responded to a home invasion robbery in the Wilson Avenue and Tippett Road area.

It is alleged that:

- three men forced their way into the victim's residence while a fourth suspect acted as a getaway driver

- once inside, they demanded drugs and money while assaulting the victim and holding him at gunpoint

- the victim attempted to fight back when the gun was fired into the air

- the victim noticed that the gun was a replica and began to struggle with one suspect over a bag containing cash

- a fight broke out causing the replica pistol to be fired again in the hallway

- the victim was able to control the suspect he was fighting with as the other two escaped to their waiting getaway vehicle

Police quickly arrived on scene and were able to take one man into custody.

At the scene, Sorena Shirazi, 24, of Richmond Hill, was arrested and charged with:

3. Disguise with Intent
4. Conspiracy To Commit an Indictable Offence

His latest court appearance was at Toronto East Court, 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at 9 a.m., room 406.


Through further investigation the Toronto Police Hold Up Squad were able to identify the three remaining men:

On Tuesday, January 12, 2021, Giancarlo Falquez Merchan, 25, of Vaughan, was arrested and charged with:

1. Robbery
2. Use Imitation Firearm to Commit an Indictable Offence
3. Disguise with Intent
4. Conspiracy To Commit an Indictable Offence

His next court appearance is at Toronto North Court, 1000 Finch Avenue West, on Friday, April 23, 2021, at 9 a.m., room 301.

On Tuesday, February 2, 2021 Jefferson Pechon, 28, was arrested and charged with:

1. Robbery
2. Use Imitation Firearm to Commit an Indictable Offence
3. Disguise with Intent
4. Conspiracy To Commit an Indictable Offence

His next court appearance is at Toronto North Court, 1000 Finch Avenue West, on Friday, April 23, 2021, at 2 p.m., room 301.

On Thursday, April 1, 2021 Rodolfo Severino Giraldo, 30, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1. Robbery
2. Use Imitation Firearm to Commit an Indictable Offence
3. Disguise with Intent
4. Conspiracy To Commit an Indictable Offence

He appeared in court at Toronto North Court, 1000 Finch Avenue West, on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at 10 a.m., room 306.
