Two additional arrests and charges

The Toronto Police Service would like to update the public on further arrests as part of a firearm discharge investigation at Yorkdale Mall.

The incident happened on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at the Mall.

It is alleged that:

- two groups of individuals were involved in an altercation

- shots were exchanged between both groups

- officers arrived immediately on scene, and with the assistance of mall security, were able to arrest one man nearby

- a loaded Glock-19 firearm was recovered as well as ammunition

- out of an abundance of caution, the mall was placed into lockdown

- officers including the Emergency Task Force and K9 Unit cleared the area and surrounding businesses, and rendered the scene safe

- patrons of the mall were escorted out safely by officers and reunited with families and loved ones

- at this time, there are no reported injuries as a result of gunshots

On Sunday, August 29, 2021, TPS advised that a 21-year-old man was arrested. He is, in fact, a 25-year-old man.

Ayobami Owusu, of Toronto, was charged with:

1. Discharge with Intent
2. Possession of a Loaded Firearm
3. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
4. Possession of a Prohibited Device
5. Fail to Comply with Prohibition Order
6. three counts of Assault

He is scheduled to appear at Toronto North Courts, 1000 Finch Ave West, via video on Thursday, September 2, 2021, 10 a.m., room 306.

On Monday, August 30, 2021, Brandon Neliko, 22, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1. Discharge Firearm with Intent to Wound
2. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
3. Possession of a Loaded Firearm
4. Occupy Motor Vehicle with a Firearm
5. Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order

On Monday, August 30, 2021, Charlotte Koehler, 29, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1. Discharge Firearm with Intent to Wound
2. Occupy Motor Vehicle with a Firearm

They were scheduled to appear at Toronto North Courts, 1000 Finch Avenue West, via video on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, 10 a.m., room 306.
