The Toronto Police Service would like to update the public on Homicide #10/2021.

As part of a homicide investigation into the disappearance of Nathaniel Brettell, Toronto Police officers had been searching a waste management site in Southwold, Ontario for several weeks.

The excavation involved multiple units from across the Service including Homicide, Police Dogs, Emergency Management and Public Order, and the Public Safety Unit.

The 57-year-old was last known to be at home on Thursday, January 21, 2021, in the Westona Street and Dixon Road area. There had been no further sightings of him.

On Thursday, August 26, 2021, investigators located the remains of Nathaniel Brettell at the Green Lane Landfill in Southwold, Ontario.

On Wednesday, May 12, 2021, Ahmed Al-Farkh, 34, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1. Second degree murder
